Eight certificate designs, each one a verifiable credential

Certificates get eight new server-rendered designs and a designer to match, every certificate becomes an Open Badges 3.0 credential that wallets can verify, and admins get a Learner Control Center.

Changelog

Eight certificate designs, each one a verifiable credential

Released on 25 October.

Eight new designs

Atelier, Monolith, Editorial, Heritage, Noir, Portrait, Blueprint and Signal join the six existing layouts. Each renders in English and Arabic, shrinks long names and titles to fit, and takes up to two signatories. The server draws the PDF and the on-screen image in one pass, so what learners see on their certificate page, their profile and the public verify page is exactly what they download. Certificate numbers keep their CERT-year-number format but now run as one sequence across the platform each year.

A designer that previews from the server

The template designer shows the eight designs as live thumbnails beside the classic layouts. Pick one, choose its colours and signatories in both languages, switch the preview between English and Arabic, and download a sample PDF. Certificates already issued keep their look until they are regenerated, and the designer says so.

Open Badges 3.0

Every certificate is now an Open Badges 3.0 credential, signed by fkra, that a wallet or verifier can check without asking us. On their certificate page, learners can download the badge image with the credential inside it or the credential file, or add it to a wallet by QR code. The public verify page checks the signature and the revocation list the way an outside verifier would. Revoking a certificate revokes its credential.

The Learner Control Center

/admin/learners becomes one hub for learners, enrollments, cohorts, study groups, skills, certificates, invitations and archived learners, under a shared overview. Each learner has a profile with their stage track, where they stopped, the days they learned over four weeks and their recent activity. Platform admins can switch the hub between one workspace and all organizations. Invitations take a CSV, cohorts take learners in bulk, and enrollments can be approved in bulk.
